Where it all started…
Chroma Church was planted by Isaac and Hannah Surh with the support of two other couples in the Fall of 2019. They met weekly to pray and seek God’s vision for the new church. We chose the name Chroma because it means “the intensity of color as it is illuminated by a light source.” For us, this points to the truth that people become their vibrant, true selves only when the light of Christ and the gospel shines upon them.
OUR STORY
Meet our leaders.
LEAD PLANTER & HEAD PASTOR
ISAAC & HANNAH SURH
Isaac Surh is originally from Toronto, Canada. Isaac served as an associate pastor in Seoul, Korea, where he got his M.Div and met and married his wife Hannah. They moved to Chicago in 2015 where Isaac earned his Th.M at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
They then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where Isaac and Hannah served in a Korean church. Isaac and Hannah have one beautiful and strong-willed son.
Our Vision
We are building a multiplying, multiethnic community so that more people without a spiritual home can find one. We believe this home should be vibrant, unified, and deeply diverse — a family made up of different ethnicities, races, and generations, all worshiping and serving together in love. Our goal is to grow to at least 120 people, so that every team can thrive with healthy rotations, avoid burnout, and become self-sustaining. We are pursuing a culture where every member is fully engaged — not just attending, but passionately living out the mission, sacrificing together for something greater than ourselves. We envision a church that’s beautiful, magnetic, and healing — the kind of community people are longing for: where everyone feels seen, welcomed, and called into purpose.

What does CHROMA mean?
A term from the science of color, Chroma is the purity or intensity of color as it is illuminated by a light source.
We believe that as the light of Christ shines upon us, we are our most vibrant and pure selves.
We invite you to join us and discover our true colors in the light of Christ, together.
